Originally scheduled to open in 2009, Marina Bay Sands faced construction delays due to escalating material costs and labor shortages, exacerbated by the global financial crisis. Eventually, it opened its doors on April 27, 2010, and in 2011, it welcomed 31 million visitors, followed by 38.5 million visitors in 2012.

Marina Bay Sands boasts a 2,561-room hotel, making it the largest in Singapore, the 6th largest in Asia, and the 34th largest in the world. Its inclusion in the "World's 100 Largest Hotels" list reflects Singapore's growing prominence on the international hospitality stage.
